AG Barr Boosts Security with New Access Control System

Scottish Communications Group has partnered with AG Barr to deliver a new Paxton Net2 access control system at the company’s Cumbernauld headquarters, helping to safeguard its factory, offices and warehouse facilities.

Founded over 140 years ago, AG Barr is one of the UK’s leading soft drinks businesses, best known for the iconic IRN-BRU. With over 400 employees working 24-hour shifts across multiple buildings, the company required a reliable system to manage staff and visitor access, while protecting sensitive information and assets.

“Security and safety are of key importance to AG Barr,” said Gordon Irving, Strategic Change Project Manager at AG Barr. “We need to manage the flow of staff and visitors to our site as well as secure AG Barr’s information and assets.”

Scottish Communications Group installed Paxton’s Net2+ IP door controllers and proximity readers across key areas of the site, supported by Paxton Net2 Pro software. The solution also included ID card printing technology and lanyards, enabling AG Barr to issue staff credentials in-house—providing both access control and visible identification.

The system has been in place for a year and has proven simple and effective to use, leading AG Barr to extend the installation to its distribution hub in Milton Keynes.

“We’re delighted with the success of the system and look forward to supporting AG Barr as they expand it across the UK,” said Stuart Leslie, Director at Scottish Communications Group.
