AG Barr – Cumbernauld
Scottish Communications Group are delighted to have worked closely with AG Barr to supply and install a Paxton Net 2 access control system to help protect AG Barr’s prestigious factory, office and warehouse at Cumbernauld in the heart of Scotland.
Established over 140 years ago in Scotland, AG Barr operate across the UK and internationally.
At their core, AG Barr are a successful branded soft drinks business, building a diverse and differentiated portfolio of great tasting brands that people love including the iconic IRN-BRU, launched in 1901 and still going strong today.
Requirement
The Cumbernauld factory and warehouse facility is a large scale site with over 400 employees working a 24 hour shift pattern, across multiple buildings.
Gordon Irving – Strategic Change Project Manager AG Barr, was responsible for procuring a system that would fit the scope set out by the management team to control access across the Warehouse, Offices and Manufacturing departments at the site in Cumbernauld.
“Security and safety are of key importance to AG Barr. We need to manage the flow of staff and visitors to our site as well as secure AG Barr’s information and assets.”
Gordon Irving – Strategic Change Project Manager (AG Barr)
Solution
Scottish Communications Group installed Paxton’s Net2+ IP door controllers and P50 proximity readers to key locations across the Warehouse, Production and Office Areas. The System is managed by the client via the latest Paxton Net2 Pro Software, allowing the function to print and administer new access cards and credentials.
It was a key requirement during the initial scoping of the system that the client would manage and issue ID cards with user credentials. SCG provided card printing technology and lanyards to allow AG Barr to roll out new ID cards to each staff member. This visible means of identification has been a huge success.
Result
AG Barr are very happy with the Net2 system installed by Scottish Communications. The system features and functions have been simple and effective to deploy and operate effectively. This has been proven with the recent instruction to proceed with a system extension to cover the distribution hub in Milton Keynes.
Now that the Net2 system has been in and operating for a year, we have seen how simple it is to use and have confirmed our decision to work with Scottish Communications to extend our system to cover our distribution centre in Milton Keynes.
Gordon Irving – Strategic Change Project Manager (AG Barr)
I worked closely with the Management and IT team at AG Barr to piece together a system specification that would best fit the scope of works and the aspirations of the organisation. I am delighted with the result to date and am looking forward to working with AG Barr as they extend the system across the UK.
