Scottish Events Campus

We recently completed a project with the SEC to update and improve CCTV systems across the campus.

The Client

Scottish Communications Group (SCG) have recently upgraded the CCTV system at the Scottish Events Campus with the latest high definition IP technology, as well as installing cutting edge technology for image recognition that will help identify and detect potential threats. New front-end recording and storage devices have been installed which are networked back to two control rooms that will be able to view each other’s camera feeds.

Why Did They Approach Scottish Communications Group?

We were recommended to Scottish Events Campus by an existing client. They had heard good things about us, and decided to go with SCG because of our consultative approach and professional understanding.

Their Needs | Our Solution

With the volume of people that the SEC sees across the campus each month, they take health and safety and security very seriously. We completed a site-wide upgrade to the existing CCTV network, upgrading over 60 cameras at the SEC Centre and over 80 cameras at the SSE Hydro.

We also made improvements to the recording and storage facilities and networked together the two control rooms so the SEC have site-wide visibility instantaneously.

• Terrorism: With the level of terrorism threats around the world increasing, large public spaces like the SEC are potential targets. Our technology helps to identify threats and take immediate action.
• Health & Safety: The SEC are very focussed on the health and safety and security of their patrons and staff. They needed to be able to make faster and better decisions that minimises any disruption or potential for harm for any of the people in the campus.

The Result

The new image recognition technology is starting to become a real game-changer for the SEC. They now have the ability to capture someone on camera and search across the campus to see where else that person has been. That’s a hugely powerful tool for their team and helps identify potential threats immediately and act on them.

This image recognition and analytics doesn’t just have a security benefit, but also helps the SEC in operational and event management situations. Our new technology helps to manage these stressful situations and create a better experience for the guests.
