Glasgow Science Centre Upgrades Visitor Safety with New Surveillance System

Glasgow Science Centre has strengthened its security with the installation of a state-of-the-art video surveillance system, supplied by Hanwha Techwin and installed by long-term partner Scottish Communications Group.

The popular visitor attraction, based on the River Clyde, welcomes thousands each year to explore over 400 exhibits, a planetarium and a space zone. To ensure a safe and secure environment, 68 new Wisenet cameras have been deployed—48 replacing older analogue models and 20 positioned in new areas to eliminate blind spots.

The upgraded system combines Wisenet Q IP network cameras for high-resolution performance in all lighting conditions with cost-effective Wisenet HD+ cameras, which deliver HD images over existing coaxial cabling. Footage is managed with hybrid and network recorders offering up to 12 terabytes of storage.

“The safety and security of our visitors is always our top priority,” said Roddie Galbraith, Facilities Manager at Glasgow Science Centre. “This investment gives our team the tools to respond quickly and effectively to incidents, and ensures our system is future-ready.”

Scottish Communications Group, which first installed the Centre’s original CCTV system in 2001, said the upgrade marks a continuation of a strong partnership.
