Grampian Police were a territorial police force based in Aberdeenshire. It has since been amalgamated into Police Scotland.

Why Did They Approach Scottish Communications Group?

Grampian Police approached us to develop a pilot project to test out how Body Worn CCTV cameras could assist them with providing crucial evidence through clear and accurate recorded digital video.

Our Solution

We conducted an extensive pilot programme with Grampian Police. This involved rolling out Body Worn CCTV cameras to a number of their officers. Our solution focussed on:

• Confidentiality & Security of Data – It was critical that the system download be fully encrypted and that access was extremely tightly controlled so that no footage could be accidentally released to the public domain.
• Ease of Use – It was important that the units be comfortable to wear and that they not impact the day-to-day duties of the officers.

The Result

The cameras have been a big success for Grampian Police. The cameras were found to provide additional protection to officers, as well as reducing the amount of time they spend in court as the evidence they supply is now visible and clearly identifiable.

Grampian Police praised the system for its efficient evidence gathering ability and for the increase in early guilty please as the video evidence was clearly available to view.
