NATO Submarine Rescue System
The Client
The NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) is a tri-national project to develop an international submarine rescue system. The system will provide a rescue capability primarily to the partner nations of France, Norway and the UK but also to NATO and allied nations and to any submarine equipped with a suitable mating surface around its hatches.
Why Did They Approach Scottish Communications Group?
We were approached by “Lochscape”, consultants working on the project, to submit a solution for providing CCTV coverage on their latest vessel.
Our Solution
Due to the bespoke requirements of the system, we spent a significant time in dialogue with the Consultancy understanding the operational requirement of the system and the challenges we would potentially be presented with. This allowed us to design a “fit for Purpose” system to meet the rather unique needs of the operational team. Our solution focussed on:
- Rapid Deployment Across Any Vessel – Our key focus was to ensure that we delivered a robust, easy to operate system that could be deployed on any vessel that was commandeered for use by NSRS.
- Night Operations – Thermal PTZ camera, into the system which allows the NSRS deck commander to find the emerging NSRS vessel immediately in total darkness and provides an additional level of operational support overall.
The Result
Our system met the client’s needs exactly. It is extremely robust, and easily copes with the extreme environmental conditions expected on a ship. It is also flexible enough to be transported “wherever required” at a moment’s notice.
