SCG Develops Nationwide CCTV Network for CMAL Harbours

Scottish Communications Group is delivering an innovative CCTV system across 25 Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) harbours in Scotland, under a five-year contract to design, install, and maintain the network.

The system was designed to withstand harsh maritime conditions while linking live footage from all ports to remote viewing locations. This enables Ferry Masters to monitor destination harbours, improving operational decisions and optimising lifeline ferry services.

The CCTV network enhances public and staff safety, supports lone-worker monitoring, enables remote oversight of navigational aids, harbour traffic, and incidents, and allows recordings to be reviewed for operational and security purposes.

Installation began in 2016 and continues across all sites, with SCG providing ongoing maintenance to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency.
