Scottish Communications Group, who have been working with the University of Dundee for over 15 years, are delighted to have been awarded a 3 year contract to look after all the CCTV and access control solutions throughout the campus.

The Client

The University of Dundee is one of the World’s Top 200 universities (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2017) and one of only 12 in the United Kingdom to also hold a Gold Award in the Teaching Excellence Framework 2017.

With more than 17000 students and 3000 staff, the University recognised the importance of investing now to upgrade all of its legacy systems and are embracing the latest technological advances in Security, CCTV and Access control solutions to provide a safe environment for campus life.

Why Did They Approach Scottish Communications Group?

Scottish Communications Group were recently approached to see if they could provide a number of highly visible emergency call point pedestals throughout the campus, to enhance the security and safety measures already in place for the benefit of their staff and students.

After evaluation by the Scottish Communications Group design team, it was decided that the most suitable solution for the University was to manufacture a bespoke pedestal which ensured the University did not have to compromise on their expectations and requirements.

Our Solution

The bespoke designed pedestals were manufactured specifically for Scottish Communications Group by Aiphone, one of world’s most respected and reliable communication solution brands. They incorporated Airphone IX IP intercom stations and Indigo Vision HD overview cameras.

The Result

The integration of both intercom and CCTV cameras enable students and staff to instantly communicate with security personnel within the University’s dedicated 24 hr manned control room if they see any suspicious activity, feel unsafe or just need assistance.

Security staff can then react immediately depending on the circumstances, with the caller safe in the knowledge that they have direct communication with the security team and they are being watched on live CCTV.
